Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Figure8 Labs, a business based in Victoria, Australia, which makes StepFlow ("we", "us"). By using StepFlow, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. The service

StepFlow is a web app for drawing diagrams and exporting them as animated files. The canvas and SVG export are free. StepFlow Pro is a paid subscription that adds the features listed on the pricing page. StepFlow is new and still changing: we may add, change or remove features, and we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.

2. Your account

You do not need an account to use the canvas. To buy Pro you need one, and you must be at least 16 and give an email address you control. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to that email address secure.

3. Your diagrams

What you make is yours. We claim no ownership of your diagrams or the files you export, and you may use them however you like, including commercially. Your diagrams are kept in your browser, not by us, so keep your own copies of anything that matters: clearing your browser's data deletes the autosave. Free exports carry a small "Made with getstepflow.com" mark.

4. Fair use

Do not use StepFlow to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
  • attack, overload or try to get around the security or limits of the service, including the AI allowance;
  • resell or give others access to Pro features through your account;
  • make things that are unlawful, deceptive or harmful.

We may suspend or close an account that does, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

5. Icons and logos

StepFlow includes icons from cloud providers and others, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Kubernetes, and the logos of well-known products. They belong to their owners, who allow their use to depict their products under their own terms. Using them in a diagram does not suggest those owners endorse you or us, and it is up to you to use them in line with those terms.

6. The AI assistant

Where it is available, the assistant drafts and changes diagrams from what you ask. Its answers can be wrong or incomplete, so check anything you rely on. Requests count against the allowance of your plan.

7. Pro, payment and cancelling

  • Pro is sold on our behalf by Link, Stripe's checkout service, which takes the payment, charges any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies, and sends your receipts. It shows on your card statement as LINK.COM* STEPFLOW.
  • Pro costs $10 a month in US dollars, plus any tax that applies, charged in advance. Checkout may show the price in your own currency.
  • It renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Manage billing on the pricing page; Pro then stays until the end of the month you have paid for, and is not charged again.
  • If a payment fails, Pro may stop until it is paid.
  • If we change the price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
  • Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

8. Your rights under consumer law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under the consumer protection laws of the country you live in, that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, StepFlow is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits, lost data or lost work, however it arises. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with StepFlow is limited, at our choice, to supplying the service again or to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Where a consumer guarantee applies, our liability for failing to meet it is limited to what the Australian Consumer Law allows.

10. Ending this agreement

You can stop using StepFlow at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may stop offering StepFlow, or part of it; if we stop offering Pro, we will refund the unused part of any month you have paid for.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for a change that matters to Pro subscribers we will email them before it takes effect. Carrying on using StepFlow after that means you accept the new terms.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria can decide any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the laws of your country that cannot be excluded.
